After getting rave reviews for her performance in Neerja, Sonam Kapoor has announced her next film will be with Kareena Kapoor in the film ‘Veere Di Wedding’.

The film will be produced by Rhea Kapoor with Ekta Kapoor and will also star Swara Bhaskar and newcomer Shikha Talsania. The director is Shashanka Ghosh who previously worked with Sonam on the film Khoobsurat.

This is what we know. The film is being described as a fun chick flick for the new age Indian women. The ladies will go on a crazy road trip across Thailand and we will get to know each character’s individual story.

Is anyone else hoping they make the film similar to ‘Bridesmaids’? I love that film and it’s hilarious. I’m actually surprised Bollywood hasn’t remade that film but hey maybe this film will be a version of it? I hope so!

While I celebrate all female film casts, I hope the film doesn’t just rely on Kareena and Sonam’s ability to draw in a crowd. The days of people buying tickets to go see anything their favourite actor or actress are staring in are long gone. You have to put out a good quality film. It can’t be just the same old epic love story with lots of dance scenes. Considering both Sonam and Kareena just had success with strong female-driven films (Neerja for Sonam, Ki and Ka for Kareena), I’ve got my fingers crossed for this one! Bring your A-game ladies!
