Hrithik Roshan is reportedly getting paid paid Rs. 50 CRORE (which is almost US 7.5 million dollars) for his new film Mohenjo Daro. That would make him the highest paid actor in Bollywood. Yeah that means his fee is now MORE than any of the Khans, Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, etc.
I’m worth every bit!!
So who would be crazy enough to pay Hrithik that much UP FRONT without any incentive for the film to perform well? Director Ashutosh Gowariker. He must really believe that Hrithik is the only man that be the leading man of the film and pull in enough moviegoers to justify such a huge fee.
As we all know, it takes more than just an actor’s name attached to a film to bring people out to the theatres. So what’s the actual storyline? All I know so far is it’s an epic adventure-romance drama that takes place in the ancient city of Mohenjo-daro in the era of the Indus Valley Civilization. Hrithik’s character falls in love with his enemy’s daughter who is a dancer (played by South Indian film actress Pooja Hegde who is making her Bollywood debut).
It took the director Ashutosh over 3 years to develop this film as loads of research was conducted (and probably to gather up a large enough budget to afford Hrithik). I did some research and Mohenjo-daro is now an archaeological site in Sindh, Pakistan. It was built around 2500 BCE and was one of the world’s earliest major urban settlements. It was abandoned in the 19th century BCE and the site wasn’t rediscovered until the 1920s. I am really into films set back in time so that’s a plus for me. Here is the only trailer I could find on the film.
The trailer doesn’t really make me get excited to see the film but check out Pooja’s look in this official poster. She plays Chaani—‘The Chosen One’ and her costume looks pretty cool!
The film’s release date is set for August 12 so I’m sure we will be seeing a lot more on the film and an extended trailer. Kabir Bedi also stars in the film with A.R. Rahman composing the film’s soundtrack.
Hrithik posted this on his Twitter: “Often the greatest of men have the smallest of beginnings. His name…? Only the truly vulnerable can be truly powerful! Are u ready?â€
Well guys, are you ready? Would you go see the film?
