All you Bollywood fans, mark those calendars!

Today officials announced that the IIFAs will be on June 26, 2016 in Madrid, Spain.

The IIFAs are the biggest awards night for Bollywood cinema with over 100 Bollywood stars expected to attend and millions expected to watch at home (aprox. 80 Million!)

The awards show is held in a different city every year so how did they pick Madrid to play host? Well Spain is hoping the glitzy awards show will help draw more tourists over from India. The country is pushing to diversify its tourism base beyond traditional northern European sun-seekers and they see India as a large and strategic fast growing potential market. Last year just 85,000 Indians visited Spain so the potential to grow is huge. The officials hope by hosting the awards show, which is expected to bring 15,000 visitors to Madrid, more people will consider visiting Spain for their holidays.

Bollywood produces over 1000 films a year—more than Hollywood. Officials are also hoping to lure Indian filmmakers to consider shooting their next projects in Madrid.

To create a buzz, Anil Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha and Hrithik Roshan attended a press conference in the city which drew a crowd of several hundred people and included a Bollywood flash mob.
