Spice Girls ‘Wannabe’ Recreated with International Stars for Global Goals Campaign—Watch Now!
By amin | Comments: 0 | July 6, 2016The Spice Girls were all about girl power and even after 20 years, the group is still having an influence in empowering women around the world.
Their hit single ‘Wannabe’ was remade complete with a new video and instead of featuring the ladies, it features a number of international celebs like British girl group M.O., model Larsen Thompson from the USA, Gigi Lamayne and Monoea from South Africa, Seyi Shay from Nigeria, Taylor Hatala from Canada, and Bollywood’s Jacqueline Fernandez from Sri Lanka.
The female celebs are teaming up in support of The Global Goals, which launched a campaign called #WhatIReallyReallyWant to encourage girls and women across the globe to tell their world leaders what they want to improve their lives and achieve equality. In the video you see the women recreating the original ‘Wannabe’ music video but revealing they really really want quality education for girls, equal pay, and an end to child marriage and violence against women.
So what do the Spice Girls think? Victoria Beckham shared the video and wrote “20 years on-Girl Power being used to empower a new generation. So proud.â€
Jacqueline was asked about her involvement with the campaign and she told media “we need to create a community where girls feel strong, safe and supported and have equal access to education, technology, health, and sanitation. What I really, really want is for people to recognize the potential of girls when they are allowed to study instead of doing household chores. And what I really, really want is to end violence against women. I want women to feel powerful and beautiful. Nothing can stop us once we are given equal opportunities and are allowed to flourish in a secure, supportive environment. The world needs a dose of girl power and that’s why I’m supporting the Global Goals Campaign for girls and women.â€
How can you get involved? The campaign is calling on people to share a picture of #WhatIReallyReallyWant for girls and women and the visual response will be presented to world leaders at the UN General Assembly in September. Here’s the video. Tell me what you think!
